Kunst Haus, the drunk house

KunstHaus in Abensberg, Bavaria in Germany

KunstHaus in Abensberg, Germany, September 2014

Well, it doesn’t mean that in translation, but it seems sort of appropriate,  since right near it is a beer-brewery famous for its tower – a creation of the Austria artist Hundertwasser. KunstHaus is actually a tribute to him and his work, created by one of his pupils, Peter Pelikan. It has the flair of a witches house, and it looks as if the architect recreate a house from a childhood drawing. To me it seems alive, not only organic, but in full movement. I would love a whole town only with houses in this style.

After the rain comes sun

Sunset after the rain in Neu Lubbenau in Spreewald in Germany

Neu Lubbenau, Germany, September 2015

A glorious sunset after a September rain. Hidden between over grown trees and bushes, an old, presumably abandoned house. In September the Nature only starts putting on its autumn-golden dress, so there are myriads of shades and tones to compete with the gray tonalities of the clouds.

Jugendstil

Detail on a building - balcony - in Art Nouveau style in Radebeul

March 2012, Radebeul Germany

One would think that would find remains of Art Nouveau style in Paris or Vien or some other big European capital city. The most treasures are actually hidden (how else?) in little places that, for different reasons (mainly financial) survived the great plans of modernization, remaining intact and, many, being lucky enough to be restored (also for financial reasons).

Urban Geometry: Green and Yellow

April 2012, Germany

In the old part of German towns, built in the Middle Ages, one can find the most amazing architecture details. Especially if big parts on the said towns have been recently renovated: than you have a wonderful urban landscape of narrow streets and colored lines of houses. There is some sort of orderly chaos, created by repetitions and all sorts of contrasts between big and small, narrow and wide, straight and curved, and modern and old. A source of infinite possibilities to create photographical compositions.

Dream House in Wörlitz

Wörlitz, Germany, July 2011

Few weekends ago we ended up, mostly by mistake (long story, don’t ask!), in Wörlitz. Wörlitz is a small, old town in Sachsen-Anhalt, but it has a really huge, and very beautiful park, stretched over a lake, with small islands and various palaces and “temples”. Since it was rather late, and rainy we didn’t get to visit much of it, so we put it on our list of places to see. Wandering through the town, I spotted this old house covered by vine. Red brick and green vine. A dream house.
