Chaos vs. Order

Wall of the church in Altenkirchen on the Rügen Island in Germany, at the Baltic Sea

Altenkirchen, Germany, September 2016

Architecture is in part about order. Parts have to sit or stay orderly, in line, otherwise the construction doesn’t have stability and falls. This wall – built in 12-th Century, by the way – seems to depict the eternal battle between order and chaos. Chaos is eating it’s way through the orderly layered bricks. Yet, they seem to work very good together, as the church the wall is a part of, still stands in the middle of the little village, watching over it, witnessing history happening.
